2017 Rome-Floyd Unified Football and Cheerleading

Youth football and cheerleading is conducted jointly by the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northwest Georgia. Teams are formed based on ages and school currently attending. Each football division has weight limits for running backs and receivers, and all players above the limits are designated as linemen. Each playing division has a minimum playing requirement for each participant.

Cheerleading squads are based on ages and current school attending.

Registration and Program Information


Early Registration Period: Monday July 10th to Sunday July 16th

Regular Registration Period: Monday July 17th to Sunday August 6th

Late Registration Period: Only upon availability on a case by case basis and prior to each age divisions weigh-in. For Cheerleading: Only upon availability on a case by case basis.

Registration can be done on line at RFPRA.com or in person at Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Department at 1 Shorter Ave. Rome Ga. 30165.  Office hours are Monday-Thursday 8:30a-5:30p, Friday 8:30a-5:00p (Closed Saturday and Sunday).

Cheerleading Registration Fees: Early Registration fee is $45.00; Regular Registration Fee is
$55.00 and Late Registration fee is $70.00 Parents are responsible for uniform expense.

Tiny Mite Football Registration Fees: Early Registration fee is $45.00; Regular Registration Fee
is $55.00 and Late Registration fee is $70.00 Parents are responsible for uniform expense.

Junior Pee Wee, Pee Wee and Mite Football Registration Fees: Early Bird Registration fee is
$55.00; Regular Registration Fee is $65.00 and Late Registration fee is $80.00 Parents are
responsible for uniform expense.

Multi-Sibling Discount is $10.00 per participant after 1st registration fee.

Refund Policy:

Football and Cheerleading Age Control Date: Age Prior to September 1st of current year.
Participants in football will NOT be allowed to play in younger or older age division.

Program Overview: All teams and volunteer coaches are under the direction of the Rome-Floyd
Unified Football/Cheerleading Committee (UFC). All volunteers will undergo background checks
and are required to complete the USA Football Coaches Certification. The UFC is comprised of
six members, three representatives the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Department and
three representatives the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northwest Georgia.

Team Formation:
All Football and Cheerleading participants must register/play for the team
from the school district in which they are currently enrolled with. All tuition based schools will
be placed together to form teams. All home school students will be placed on teams based on
school district currently living in. In cases where a school district does not have enough
participants to form teams, those participants will be combined with another district to insure
participation.

Pre-Season Football/Cheerleading Practices for Tiny Mites: Starts Monday July 24th (must be
registered to practice) Pre-season practices are limited to three per week and no longer than
one and a half hours in duration hours in duration. After Jamboree team practices are limited to
two per week and no longer than one and a half hours in duration.

Pre-Season Football/Cheerleading Practices for Junior Pee Wee, Pee Wee and Mites: Starts
Monday July 24th (must be registered to practice) Pre-season practices are limited to four per
week and no longer than two hours in duration. After Jamboree team practices are limited to
three per week and no longer than one and a half hours in duration.

Rome-Floyd Unified Youth Football/Cheerleading First Day of Practice Monday July 24th 2017

The 2017 Season will begin July 24, 2017

PRACTICES
1. The first day of organized practice shall be the Monday of the last full week of July.
Players may wear helmets, mouthpieces, shorts, tee shirts and shoes for the first four
(4) days of scheduled practice. Other football equipment may not be worn during this
period.
2. No team shall start body-to -body contact until the fifth day of scheduled practice.
3. All players must be registered to play with the Rome-Floyd Unified Youth Football
program with the team which they will be attending school in the proper age division.

Projected Season Dates: August 26th to November 4th

Football Player Weigh-Ins: Every football player must be weighed once prior to the start of the
season. Tiny Mites and Pee Wees on Tuesday, August 22nd, Junior Pee Wees and Mites on
Thursday August 24th. Weigh-Ins are facilitated at the West Rome Boys & Girls Club 100 Gadson
St. Rome Ga. 30165.  Weigh-In schedules will be determined at a later date and provided to each head coach.

Game Admission: Jamboree, Regular Season and Play-Off Games $2.00 (this does not include
Heritage Bowl Championship Games)

Games Times: 5:30p/7:00p or 6:00p/7:30p weekdays (Saturdays starting at 10:00a)

Game Days: Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays Note: if possible Tiny Mites may play on
Thursdays

Game Locations: Games are played at two locations
Riverview Sports Complex (Behind the Levee) and Boys and Girls Club of Northwest GA (West
Rome Center) 100 Gadson St. NW Rome GA 30165

Football Mandatory Play Rule: Six (6) plays in every game for Junior Pee Wees, Pee Wees and
Mites. For Tiny Mites (Instructional) each team will use a 2-platoon system with players split
evenly between offense and the defense to allow maximum participation for every player.

Football Uniforms and Equipment: Uniforms and equipment are not included in the
registration fee. Parents are responsible for purchasing of these items. A uniform for football
shall include a helmet with face guard, shoulder pads, football pants with pads protecting the
hips, butt, thighs and knees; and a jersey with numerals on the front and back. It is mandatory
that all players wear such uniforms. All players must wear mouth-guards at all times.

Program Awards: Post Season Individual Awards are presented to the Champion and Runnerup.

Football Ages and Weight Restrictions

Tiny Mites: 5 & 6-year old’s (Instructional)

(Minimum weight required is 35 lbs. Maximum weight for running backs and receivers is 70
lbs.) All players over 70 lbs. will be restricted to playing as an interior lineman on offense or
defense. This will be the first year of this age division, scores will not be recorded and post
season playoff tournament will not be offered. In this age division, each team will be scheduled
8 scrimmages with other league teams. Emphasis for this age group will be fun, learning game
fundamentals, team work and fair play. Registration Fee for Tiny Mites; Early Bird Registration
fee is $45.00; Regular Registration Fee is $55.00 and Late Registration fee is $70.00

Junior Pee Wees: 7 & 8-year old’s

Maximum weight for running backs and receivers is 85 lbs. All players over 85 lbs. will be
restricted to playing as an interior lineman on offense or defense. Registration Fee for Junior
Pee Wee; Early Bird Registration fee is $55.00; Regular Registration Fee is $65.00 and Late
Registration fee is $80.00

Pee Wees: 9 & 10-year old’s

Maximum weight for running backs and receivers is 100 lbs. All players over 100 lbs. will be
restricted to playing as an interior lineman on offense or defense. Registration Fee for Pee
Wees; Early Bird Registration fee is $55.00; Regular Registration Fee is $65.00 and Late
Registration fee is $80.00

Mites: 11 & 12-year old’s

Maximum weight for running backs and receivers is 130 lbs. All players over 130 lbs. will be
restricted to playing as an interior lineman on offense or defense. Registration Fee for Mites;
Early Bird Registration fee is $55.00; Regular Registration Fee is $65.00 and Late Registration
fee is $80.00

Cheerleading Age Divisions

Tiny Mites: 5 & 6 year old’s

Junior Pee Wees: 7 & 8 year old’s

Pee Wees: 9 & 10 year old’s

Mites: 11 & 12 year old’s

Please be advised that all parents of children who participate in any Rome-Floyd Unified
Football or Cheerleading team are expected to conduct themselves in a courteous and
respectful manner. Obviously, parents should not use profanity, threats or insulting language.
Parents should not engage in any controversial conversations with supervisors, game officials or coaches.
Any parent having any concern regarding a supervisor, program employee and or a
coach’s performance should refrain from speaking with said person. Rather, the parent should
contact the program coordinator regarding that concern.
